
What is Footsteps to a Brighter Future?
Footsteps to a Brighter Future is a virtual fundraising event where the challenge is to walk 10,000 steps a day between Monday 11th October and Sunday 31st October 2021. By taking part you’ll be raising money to help New Zealand children affected by family violence. You’ll be supporting them to take part in Barnardos children’s safety programme Footsteps to Feeling Safe .
How do I enter?
You register at www.footstepstoabrighterfuture.org.nz, get your fundraising page set up and then share with your friends and family so they can support you!
How do I track my steps?
You can track your steps using any fitness device, an app on your phone or a pedometer. To automatically add your steps to your fundraising page, you need a Strava account https://www.strava.com/ (it’s free!). Strava integrates with most of fitness devices and is simple to use. You can also enter your steps manually. 10,000 steps equates to about 8km, or 1hr and 40 minutes walking .
What if I am unable to walk or would prefer to participate by different means?
Footsteps to a Brighter Future is accessible to all. 10,000 steps equates to about 8km, or 1hr and 40 minutes walking but if you are unable to commit to this then find the challenge that fits best for you. Just set your personal fitness goal and log the distance you cover each day.
